PARISH CHURCH
“
Happy to be Back to Church”
The
fact that our church building had to close for public worship
from
the last week of December 2020 to Easter of this year as a
result
of the COVID-19 restrictions had been a source of
great
disappointment
to all of us. However,
we are delighted that since
Easter
Sunday we have been back together on Sunday mornings
and
our hope is that we will be able to continue this way for the
rest
of the year.
It is great to have been able to welcome people
back
during the past recent weeks.
Some have said to me how
much
they missed in-person worship on Sunday mornings and how
you
don’t really appreciate this until it is taken away….. Sadly,
of
course,
there will be others of us who have become accustomed to a
different
pattern to their Sunday mornings over the past year and
may
never come back to regular Sunday service…such is human
nature.
All necessary arrangements for your well-being are in place
and
at present there is just one morning service each Sunday at
11.00am.
While we are advised to be cautious about congregational
singing
we can continue to sing provided it is softly and while
wearing a
face mask.
When we have communion together we receive only the bread,
not
the wine. We
also come to the Communion Rail in single file and
remain standing to receive the bread given by small
sugar-tongs.
Some may be a little anxious about meeting together, because
you have an underlying health condition or you are still
just a little
nervous about being in a gathering of people at the moment.
We understand this and you must not feel under any pressure.
We want you to come back to church when you are ready and it
is right for you to do so.
Until then know that you continue to
be in our prayers.

A pastoral letter from the Bishop
3 September
2021
As a Church we need to rediscover the
presence of God and his power to change lives. We want to see
the Church
renewed to transform individuals and society with the life of
Christ and the
good news of forgiveness, peace, healing and joy that is given
to those who
would submit to Jesus.
Any season
of renewal
is always given to us by God. It is God’s gift and God’s doing
for, as it says
in John 3:8, ‘The wind blows where it wills, and we cannot
tell where it comes
from or where it is going.’ Nevertheless, if we are to move
into a new season
of renewal there are responsibilities and challenges that rest
with all of us.
Two further
prayer
events will follow, and details can be found on the diocesan
website.
Amen.’
